We created this learning community to bring you together with equally passionate students and tutors ready for something new.

A few things you'll see quickly that make this community different:

• It's Ours. Its Yours and Mine. As we build this community together, we have some great features for creating exclusive learning content, various learning tools and methods, more in-depth conversations, richer polls, and events. Plus, by building this learning community, you can have a more efficient and valuable experience with us and each other.

• There are More Ways for You to Connect and Help Each Other. There are more ways for you to connect with students and us who are into the same subjects, categories, or who care about the same topics or are near you. You can't get this on any other free or paid network.

• We Can Bring Together Learning Content and Community. This means we're freed up to bring you new, fresh learning content, new revision material, ideas and new practices that you can integrate into your learning routine or life.

What You Should Expect From The Network

If you are a student with us, we are aiming to make your experience here awesome. We want you to get five key things from the Learning Community:

• To take advantage of a step-by-step learning program where you can learn faster and more efficiently without fumbling around in the dark so that you can gain knowledge and master your school subjects. 

• To take advantage of a highly effective programme of revision and retrieval practice, so that you have no gaps in your knowledge and you ace your GCSE exams.

• To take advantage of our highly focused, fast responding team, who will support and aid your learning, so that you can stop wasting time and learn more quickly.

• To get exclusive learning content and conversations, you can't find anywhere else so that you have a competitive advantage over other students.

• To meet other students (and tutors) like you, so that we can all exchange ideas, learn new strategies, study smarter and uncover new ways of studying more efficiently as a result of connecting so that you can replicate each other's success.

To make this a reality, we are going to need your help. Every time you ask a question, contribute a story, experience, or idea, you're building a knowledge base, every member of this community can tap into to learn better and faster. And when you invite in as few as two new members (your friends or classmates), you're adding rocket fuel to what this community can accomplish together. It's why we're here and why we're grateful you're here with us as well.

Science could be your weakness, and you could be studying Motion, and for some reason, you can't get your head around the fundamental principles. So, you need someone to help you understand it better! On the other hand, English Literature could be your favourite subject. You have recently aced your assignments on Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, so you can quickly answer questions on this when other students get stuck.

Here are our guidelines:

Be supportive. Encourage and support your fellow students. No one here is looking for your criticism, cynicism, advice, or judgement. (We can all get those things on the rest of the Internet).

We all have knowledge to share. Your knowledge and experiences are valuable, even if you are in Year 7, Year 11 or an old fogey! 

Share generously. Your knowledge and experiences may be exactly what another member needs to hear today to solve a problem or challenge themselves. Some of the best help comes from students helping each other.

Be constructive. We are here to push each other forward and lift each other up. Find ways to help each other think bigger, reframe challenges, and stay curious.

Don’t spam, promote, or troll. This learning platform and community exist to help you learn. It’s not a place to spam, promote yourself, or bully anyone else.

Hopefully, these should be easy agreements. If you think you’ll be unable to abide by these guidelines, let me know and I’m happy to remove you.

Share a 1-minute introduction or a few lines about you. Make sure you add a photo, a mini-bio, and a quick introduction to your profile page. This will help us and other members find you and welcome you!

If a minute is too long, make it 30 seconds, but please share some small bits of information about you. And please-please upload a profile photo. We are working to make this learning platform and community as personal as possible. 

You make this community what it is. It can only be successful with your participation and involvement. So, don't be shy, introduce yourself!

A Few Things Upfront

Here are at the GCSE.CO.UK Community, one of the main ways we learn is engaging in conversations and discussions in a meaningful way. It's the foundation of this community we are working hard to create. Therefore, when conversations are going on, you should know that you are in complete control of the topics (conversations) you follow and notifications you receive - and you have the power to turn off the ones that don't interest you.

You control what notifications you get from the community. Go to your profile to update your settings. The default notification settings are designed to bring you back early and often, so make sure you’re getting the ones you want.

Mobile friendly and app on the way. Our entire platform, including this community is build around mobile devices - it works beautifully on smartphones, try it out. We are also looking at releasing an app version of this community, let us know if this would be important for you.

I find learning easier on a bigger screen, a laptop or a tablet, however, if you prefer the convenience of learning and engaging with other students on a smartphone, then let us know.

The Activity Feed is personalised for you. Your home in the community is your Activity Feed. By default, it will show you the latest activity from us and other members. You can follow members to see everything they post or opt-out of topics that don’t interest you.

Here’s the best part. As we add groups or private spaces either now or in the future, they will also show up just to you in your Activity Feed if and when you join them. Look for tags underneath the post for the indicator to see which group, course, or topic the post belongs to.

That’s it! With those 3 simple things, you can start exploring the community.
